Description
Measures between 30-35 cm. It is bicolor with a predominantly silver and gray body. It also has 14-15 narrow gray-brown transversal stripes. It has 11 Dorsal spines; 12 – 13 Dorsal soft rays; 3 anal spines; 10 – 11 anal soft rays. It has a fusiform / normal body shape with a pointed snout and long face. Ventral side is flattened. Looks like: Pouting (e.g., Centracanthus cirrus): small, slender fish that may be confused with juvenile L. mormyrus. However, pouting have a more pointed snout and a different fin ray count. Diplodus sargus (White Seabream): juveniles can be similar in shape and fin structure to L. mormyrus. Careful examination of scale patterns and tooth morphology is needed for accurate identificatio
