Internships in
Media, PR, Design & Artwork

Archipelagos’ media, PR, design and artwork internships provide an opportunity to contribute to conservation efforts through the communication platforms of documentary, photography, video production, journalism, illustration, graphic design, animation design and public relations.

Conservation efforts can only be successful when shared with local communities and the general public; therefore, Archipelagos’ outreach is dedicated to providing accessible resources to bridge knowledge gaps in biodiversity and the factors that threaten it. By joining our team, you will contribute to highlighting environmental issues at local and global levels, devoted to the protection of marine life in the Mediterranean Sea. This work aims to share the responsibility for nature conservation, as well as inspire new actions and initiatives.

Key Projects

Creating articles centered around marine conservation and research work carried out by Archipelagos. Utilized platforms include newspapers, online media, television and radio.

Providing creative documentation material for conservation projects using various mediums such as photography, illustration, graphic design, animation design and more.

Filming and editing documentary projects following Archipelagos’ research and conservation efforts as an important tool for outreach.

Contributing to the maintenance of social networking profiles such as facebook, instagram, linkedin and twitter. Effectively promote Archipelagos’ conservation efforts and disseminate sustainability knowledge based on relevant research.

Launching awareness campaigns across various platforms in order to convey the importance of marine conservation and Aegean protection to a wide audience.

Preparing fundraiser events and materials for various projects within Archipelagos.

Background

The Aegean Sea is one of the most important remaining marine biodiversity hotspots in the Mediterranean and Europe; and yet the awareness of its importance, or even of the rare wildlife it supports is widely insufficient. In order to successfully effect conservation, Archipelagos’ media team works together with the research teams, to bring attention to key species, habitats, environmental threats and solutions for conservation. The creative communication is invaluable to actively engage the public in conservation of marine life.

Your Role

The internship involves, in principle, office work, or outdoor work for photography and filming (depending on the project), but you will also be able to participate in the field work of the other Archipelagos’ teams and/or participate in boat-based surveys and research expeditions, so that you can acquire hands-on experience and understanding of marine research and conservation work. Depending on your skills and expertise, you will be providing support for the scientific communication of Archipelagos research work whilst raising awareness towards the challenges of marine conservation. You will be offered the ability to work in a general intern role collaborating on various topics, or in a specialized intern role contributing to one pre-defined project.
