Researchers of Archipelagos Institute offer lessons on applied environmental conservation to high school students. With a combination of theoretical sessions in Archipelagos’ research base and field-based activities in the wetland of Aliki in Psili Ammos, Samos, the students had the opportunity to take part in observation and monitoring of biodiversity, while also learning about the anthropogenic activity which threatens the survival of the rare wildlife of the Aegean Sea and islands.
For over 20 years, Archipelagos researchers have been offering lessons of environmental conservation to school students of all ages, aiming to provide them with hands-on experience in relation to the real environmental problems. This is the biggest investment we can make for the new generations who will have to manage the large environmental problems that we have created and continue to create.
During May this action will expand from the eastern Aegean to the region of Cyclades, focusing on the islands of Donousa, Astipalea, Anafi and Thirasia and extending to as many other islands of Cyclades we will be allowed by time and work limitations, as at the same time we will carry out research in this region.
