Archipelagos Institute is hosting these days a film crew from French TV channel ARTE for the shooting of a documentary on the high risk of maritime accident in the Aegean and 6 other high risk zon
es in the Mediterranean. The lack of a mechanism for prevention and response to maritime accidents in the Greek seas, results in a constant danger of a large maritime accident, with dramatic consequences to nature, the local communities, public health and of course economy and tourism.
This topic is a priority axis for the research of Archipelagos Institute for the last 7 years, aiming not only to make this problem known to national authorities and the wider public, but also to develop complete proposals for risk management, software for assessment of risks and other tools that will be part of the solution of this complex and immense problem.
