An unexpected encounter occurred between humans and dolphins in the waters of the Fourni Island archipelago. After the deep divers from UNDER THE POLE completed a dive to survey coralligenous habitats at a depth of 100 meters, their slow ascent, lasting over three hours for decompression purposes, caught the curiosity of these bottlenose dolphins.
This encounter took place in a natural environment where marine mammals have survived for millions of years, coexisting with thousands of other species. Unfortunately, this environment, which humans also wish to share, is being destroyed daily. We continuously find new ways to accelerate the degradation and depletion of marine resources—an anthropocentric approach that has emerged in recent decades, lacking both logic and intelligence.
The joint action “Save Aegean Coralligenous” https://archipelago.gr/…/protecting-life-in-the-deep-seas/ in Aegean waters focusing on the island of Fourni continues and will be intensified in the coming months, in close collaboration with the municipality and the fishermen of the island!
Many wishes to all for a happy and creative New Year!
