Naftilos Reaches Malta

Naftilos Reaches Malta

by Kleopatra Delaveri / Thursday, 19 July 2018 / Published in Marine Mammals, News

Archipelagos’ researcher’s boat Naftilos has reached the port of Valetta in Malta after 6 days of travelling through the international waters of east Lybia.  The team experienced rough weather conditions, and after a short stop for refueling, Naftilos continued. The researchers are continuing its important research in the framework of the Accobams Survey Initiative: the first large scale cetacean survey in whole Mediterranean Sea. For this research the specialized and multinational crew of Naftilos – from Libya, Holland, India and Greece – uses the latest technology of marine bioacoustic equipment. This work is crucial to Archipelagos’ development, education of the mediterranean population and protection of the marine life.
