Archipelagos’ researchers in Agathonisi island

Archipelagos’ researchers in Agathonisi island

by Kleopatra Delaveri / Friday, 02 February 2018 / Published in Education, News

For over 18 years, despite the large workload here at Archipelagos, we utilize every opportunity to share with the youth our experiences, current research and conservation efforts. We also provide hands-on sessions in nature conservation to the schools on nearby islands.

The engagement of youth today is the best investment we can make for the future of our seas.
Yesterday we visited the Primary and Secondary school of the remote island of Agathonisi, where all nine students and their kind teachers took part in an information session on rare marine and terrestrial species found on their island and the waters surrounding it. The ideas of the students on how they will actively protect their environment filled us with inspiration and hope. Soon our course will bring us again to Agathonisi to meet again with these special children.
